The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in one of the most epic Super Bowls in recent memory. Can they start a dynasty and defend their title next year? It seems early to look ahead, but the Super Bowl 58 odds are already available!
I’m eager to share my (way too) early Super Bowl 58 predictions and offer my analysis of the odds, the top contenders, and a few notable sleepers.
Super Bowl 2024 Odds
- Kansas City Chiefs; +500
- Philadelphia Eagles; +700
- Buffalo Bills; +800
- San Francisco 49ers; +800
- Cincinnati Bengals; +900
- Dallas Cowboys; +1600
- Los Angeles Chargers; +2200
- Baltimore Ravens; +2500
- Denver Broncos; +2500
- Jacksonville Jaguars; +2500
The Chiefs are the favorites to defend their NFL title in 2024. It’s been five years of dominance for Kansas City, a team that’s now appeared in five consecutive AFC Championship games, culminating in two Super Bowls.
The Super Bowl 2024 odds also feature several notable teams. This includes the Bills, Eagles, Bengals, and 49ers. The NFC is particularly wide open right now, and I believe that several new contenders could emerge next season.
Main Favorites for Super Bowl 58
I first want to dive into the early favorites before I discuss my predictions for Super Bowl 58. We have a few teams that have excellent rosters that should remain intact for the 2024 season, so they are expected to go deep.
Let’s explore them in more detail.
Kansas City Chiefs
- Head Coach: Andy Reid
- Best Player: Patrick Mahomes
- 2022-23 Record: 14-3
Are the Kansas City Chiefs establishing a dynasty? With two Super Bowls in four years, that certainly seems to be the case. QB Patrick Mahomes, who just won his second NFL MVP award, is already drawing comparisons to Tom Brady.
The Chiefs aren’t going away any time soon, either. Mahomes is just 27 and one of the most talented QBs of all time. If head coach Andy Reid and tight end Travis Kelce stick around, this team can definitely win more Super Bowls.
Mahomes took home Super Bowl MVP honors in the Chiefs’ victory over the Eagles, but he will be hungry for more. A player of his caliber can almost single-handedly keep his team in contention.
Kansas City also won a title even after the team traded Tyreek Hill during the offseason. For Mahomes to persevere and capture a Super Bowl without a top-5 wide receiver is seriously impressive.
The big question here is whether Kansas City’s defense can be at least decent. That’s the team’s weakest point, and more than enough teams have the weapons to punish the Chiefs.
Philadelphia Eagles
- Head Coach: Nick Sirianni
- Best Player: Jalen Hurts
- 2022-23 Record: 14-3
2022-23 was an amazing season for Philadelphia and QB Jalen Hurts. The Eagles came up short by three points against the Chiefs, but overall, the team went on a pretty epic run. Philadelphia also nearly won its second Super Bowl in five years.
Given how good the offense was this season, I think it’s safe to say that the Eagles will be back in the mix. The team has the top wide-receiver duo in the NFL with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Philadelphia also boasted one of the best run games, accumulating over 2,500 yards rushing as a team.
On the other hand, the Eagles had a super easy path to Super Bowl in 2023. They defeated the Giants in the Divisional Round – a team that wasn’t a true contender. They then beat the 49ers in the NFC Championship, but San Fransisco was without a QB for half the game.
The Eagles also have a bunch of free agents in their ranks, especially on defense. The team will be noticeably weaker next year.
Buffalo Bills
- Head Coach: Sean McDermott
- Best Player: Josh Allen
- 2022-23 Record: 13-3
My Super Bowl 2024 prediction wouldn’t be valid if I didn’t talk about the Buffalo Bills. Here’s a team with many key pieces in place to be successful down the road. Josh Allen is also one of the best young QBs in the NFL, and the roster has talent at every position.
Unfortunately, the Bills were humbled by the Bengals during the Divisional Round this postseason. It was an utter meltdown in which Buffalo was only able to muster 10 points of offense while playing at home. The O-line was abysmal that day, and the team couldn’t get the run game going.
Despite a poor showing against Cincinnati, this team is still loaded with talent. The defense is as good as it gets, and Allen is extremely dynamic at both running and throwing the football. Although RB Devin Singletary becomes a free agent, the roster should remain intact overall.
Injuries also played a role in Buffalo’s downfall this season. Losing linebacker Von Miller delivered a devastating blow to the team’s pass rush. Furthermore, CB Tre’Davious White should also be fully recovered from his ACL injury this upcoming season.
San Francisco 49ers
- Head Coach: Kyle Shanahan
- Best Player: Nick Bosa
- 2022-23 Record: 13-4
Here’s the biggest question surrounding the 49ers: Who’s the starting QB next season? Is it Trey Lance or Brock Purdy? Lance, who was drafted third overall in 2021, was supposed to represent the franchise. However, Purdy won eight straight games en route to the NFC Championship game.
This season, injuries to Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo set the stage for Purdy to succeed. The rookie QB out of Iowa State threw for 13 TDs during the regular season to go along with a 107.3 passer rating. Many believe that he could be the guy moving forward for San Francisco.
On paper, the 49ers have weapons all over the field on both offense and defense. Nick Bosa won Defensive Player of the Year after he finished the season with 18.5 sacks. On the offense, you also have Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle, a deadly trio.
If the coaching staff gets it right, San Francisco will fight for a title.
Best Super Bowl Sleepers for 2024
I now want to share my thoughts on a few sleepers as part of my Super Bowl 2024 predictor preview. These are teams that I believe can exceed expectations this upcoming season. I also include a few underdogs that didn’t make the playoffs in 2022-23.
- Pittsburgh Steelers (+5000 at Bovada). The Steelers overperformed this past season and somehow finished with a winning record. If QB Kenny Pickett continues to develop and get better, the offense could be pretty potent.
- Detroit Lions (+3300). The Lions were extremely close to making the playoffs this past season. The team is on the rise right now, having won eight of their final ten games of 2022-23. Jared Goff also should be their main QB moving forward.
- Los Angeles Rams (+3300). The Rams just suffered the worst Super Bowl hangover of all time this past season. However, Sean McVay is an exceptional head coach, and I expect him to turn things around.
- Denver Broncos (+2500). The Broncos recently announced that Sean Payton would be the new head coach. The belief is that he can fix QB Russell Wilson and get the team back on track this upcoming season.
- New England Patriots (+5000). The Patriots were pretty darn bad in 2022-23. However, I expect big things from New England if the team can figure out its QB situation.
We could also witness several playoff teams regress next season. One notable example is the Tampa Bay Buccanneers, which lost QB Tom Brady to retirement. Also, the Minnesota Vikings may have been the worst team in NFL history that won 13 games in a season.
Super Bowl 58 Prediction and Pick
You can never count out the Chiefs because QB Patrick Mahomes is an absolute monster. However, winning two consecutive Super Bowls isn’t easy – the last team to do it was New England back in 2004-05. I think it’s inevitable that we will witness a new winner in 2024.
I’m picking the 49ers with my super early Super Bowl 58 predictions. The team has all the pieces in place, and the odds of +800 are simply fantastic.
